What's It Worth To You?

As I was preparing my Christmas list this year, I found myself second guessing what to put on it, and it got me to thinking about what games are really worth to me. I mean, because I opted for Fable II knowing I'd finish it faster than Bethesda's latest opus, I knew I'd be putting Fallout 3 on my list. I'd put Samba De Amigo on there, but after hearing that the controls are kind of hit-or-miss, I've taken it off. Now I'm considering putting Lips on there because it looks like a lot of fun, but it's not something I want to spend all that money on. And that's the thing.
See, I know it's not worth putting Samba De Amigo on my list because that'll eventually end up discounted, used, or in the bargain bin quick enough, and it's probably worth $20. I just get that feeling. But with Lips, I don't see it dropping in price anytime soon, so that makes a better choice to have Santa bring me. But if I put that and Fallout 3 on my list, I might only get one instead of both. Which wouldn't be so bad if I got Lips, because I have no problem spending $60 on Fallout 3 since it's clearly awesome. On the other hand, if I find Fallout 3 under the tree, then I have to justify spending $70 on a karaoke game.
Certain games you want so bad that you buy the day they're released and pay full price for. Then there are those you kind of want, but are willing to play something else you want more, knowing that by the time you finish that, the first game will be on sale. Then there are those games that you wouldn't even consider buying until it hits the bargain bin used for ten or fifteen bucks. Clearly those aren't worth wasting Christmas list space on. I would hate to force my relatives or my bf to waste all that money on a game that wasn't really worth it in the end.
So how do you rate your games? I know I personally wish I hadn't paid full price for Silent Hill: Homecoming since that is now sitting half-finished on the shelf, tossed aside like a red-headed stepchild for the lovely Fable II. What's going on your list? How did you arrive at those choices? Does anyone else think like me or am I just insane? I mean, I know I have sense enough not to put We Cheer on my Christmas list, and not because I know it'll come down in price...

Actually I remember seeing Fallout 3 on sale for $35 for Black Friday. I think that was at Best Buy, or possibly Circuit City. So I'd suggest just picking that up instead of a loved one paying $60 for it.
For me, I usually ask for games that I may have an interest, but too cheap to take that gamble. I know I will pick up the Halos and Final Fantasy's the day they come out, but I'm usually hesitant on games I'm not sure about. But luckily, a lot of times, they pay off, such was the case for Kotor and Metal Gear Solid 2 in their respected years.
I'm unsure of the vocal style of Lips. Wish a demo would come out because if it's like world tour then it isn't playable for me.
However after seeing some your in the movies action I can't help but feel very compelled to buy it. I know of at least 1 friend who would jump right into it, plus there's a cam for the strip uno... i mean for the ugh achievements games have for it... yeah...
it's kind of changed to a flat out financial thing for me over the years. Mainly the only game I'd ever really paid 60 for became halo, it just... had to be done, wasn't a question about it at all.
However the amount of gaming I've done has just plummeted lately and I find myself not really playing the games as much or getting my money's worth out of them anymore. One friend has realized this and now just buys the games he wants me to play with him... which works pretty well I must say :D But those are games I'd usually never play nor buy in the first place, still fun though.
Mainly for me its become the 30 dollar mark for games on half or amazon. For someone hard core into the games yeah, the games are great and I'm sure their worth it, but with the way I play games these days 60, 70 dollars is just completely not worth it.
Well for me...I put alot of games on my list that I ment to buy when they first came out but didn't get around to it. So now that it's Christmas these games are greatly reduced in price like...Infinate Undiscovery, Eternal Sonata, Crisis Core. That way I get more =) Although I think I did put one full price game on the list, Prince of Persia.
