Capcom Mentions Possible Strider Revival, Not So Keen On Clover

I'll admit it, I had never heard of Strider until playing Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. But as soon as I caught a glimpse of the crazy-sword ninja with an army of robot animals, I instantly became a huge fan. But it seemed I became a fan too late, because Capcom hasn't made a new Strider game since the spectacular Strider 2 for PS1 in 1999. But all hope is not lost. In a recent interview with 1UP, Keiji Inafune mentioned that after the success of the Street Fighter revival it is likely the Strider could be the next to receive similar treatment.
It's one of the franchises that I have an interest in reviving, so I think there's a real possibility that we will make another Strider game.
But all is not hopeful in the world of Capcom revivals. It looks like games made by Clover, like Viewtiful Joe, God Hand, and Okami, aren't as likely to be seen again.
At this time, we have no plans of making sequels to any of those properties. I can't say we won't, for certain, but it's not very likely or appealing. If we had no other properties to depend on for making new games, we might be desperate enough to create sequels to those titles, but that's not the case. We have a lot of titles that we want to make and other sequels that are waiting to be made. So, there's no interest at the moment.
And just to dampen hopes even more, when asked for clarification as to whether Capcom owns Clover intellectual properties the response was:
Yes. But, we're just not interested in them.
Ouch. Things don't look so good for former Clover games. It's a real shame though, because Viewtiful Joe brought new life to the side-scrolling games, and Okami is just flat-out one of the best games I've played in the past 5 years. Hopefully after more time has passed and those games have reached true cult classic status like Strider or Bionic Commando, Capcom will be willing to revisit them, but in the mean time us Clover fans are just going to have to sit and wait. And maybe enjoy some ninjas and robots while we wait.
Keiji Inafune Talks Mega Man Revivals, Strider Possibilities [1UP]

No love for Viewtiful Joe or Okami, but they're content to ruin Street Fighter with a godawful "sequel" that breaks literally every rule for canon Street Fighter games.
I remember when I liked Capcom...
"If we had no other properties to depend on for making new games, we might be desperate enough to create sequels to those titles, but that's not the case"
That is rude, disrespectful, condescending,& just all around wrong! That implies that those games are trash. What about the 9000 SF titles or MM/variations they shovel out. I love MM & SF but throwing them out the way they do while disrespecting these gems? BS!
Wow. @$$-hattery.
I would like to think that this was a slight mistranslation and that he was saying no, but not oh hell no. There is a language barrier.
But knowing the gaming industry, he probably meant it.
That new Mega Man on Xbox360 is pretty difficult, like the old days. I couldn't hang; I've lost my 4337 bot-busting skillz.
So, who wants to start a Clover petition?
