Dragon Quest IX.. Expensive But Has A Cool Case

I'm not the hugest fan of the Dragon Quest series. I know that will lose me some of my coolness points with people, but I find those games terribly repetitive and battle heavy. I'm going to go sulk for a bit. Anyway, Dragon Quest IX is well on it's way to seeing a release in Japan, something that many people are looking forward to.
What people are not looking forward to is how crazy expensive the game is going to be. Stand back importers, this title will run you a cool 5,980 yen (~$65).
Now, while I'm probably not going to snag the title unless/until it sees a US release, I'm already falling for the merch. That lovely picture attached is the DSi case created to show off this little game. See how the camera is a slime eye? Isn't that FREAKING ADORABLE? I want to know how I'm going to get one of those.

A part of me just died realizing that unless I shell out a LOT of money, I'm not going to be getting that since US almost always gets screwed out of great designs like this. Prove me wrong, Nintendo...prove me wrong like you did with the Pokémon DS! PLEASE!
Having played through Dragon Quest VIII, I have to say that I agree with you on the tediousness. It really takes a true turn-based RPG fanatic to actually enjoy the game through it's entire length.
I liked the colorful and expansive world, and I usually love long games, but with DQ VIII, I found myself asking several times "when is this going to end?!". It just went on and on and on, and the battles were every bit as repetitive and bland throughout! I wouldn't have minded it as much if the story would've been more captivating or epic, but no! The NPCs were all cardboard clichés and they switched the main villain like three times during the course of the game.
Okay, it wasn't the worst game I've ever played, but I'm really not going to touch the series ever again. Sorry for the rant, I'll end it now.
