Dumb Mom Ruins Kids' Present - Be-Wii-eve It Or Not

Over at the NeoGAF forums, user HUELEN10 has posted a story of some pretty impressive stupidity on the part of a brand new Wii owner.
My neighbors which I don't really know to well to begin with, got their kids a Wii for Xmas. They got no games for it, but they did get a Classic Controller as well as an additional Nunchuck Combo and a carrying case. They asked me what games they recommended, and I decided to recommend them the Animal Crossing City Folk/Wii Speak bundle, Wario Land Shake It,Mario Kart Wii, and Super mario Galaxy. I also recommended them some VC games including Super mario World, and Sonic 2 8-bit.Anywho, the Mom asks me what VC is, and I told her. I told her that all she needed to do was put in her credit card when prompted on the Shop Channel, and get the amount of points she wanted. I also told her what WiiSpeak is, and how to connect her Wii to the internet via an ethernet connection.
Anywho, I got a call today from the mom telling me that the Wii is not working. I asked what was wrong and you won't believe it.........
SHE PHYSICALLY PUT 3 CREDIT CARDS INTO THE DISC SLOT.
HOW STUPID DO YOU HAVE TO BE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I'm not going to deny that there are people that dumb in the world, and Nintendo apparently already knows this. I've also got no reason to doubt Mr. HUELEN10, but the story certainly sounds like something right out of the Urban Legend playbook. So I'll leave it up to you to decide if it's a real story about the dangers of folks getting in over their heads, technologically speaking, or just another attempt at making non-gamers look like fools.
Fail & More Fail: GAF Tells REAL Stupid Owner Stories [NeoGAF Forum]

Nope, I don't beleave it.
well, I have encountered some dumb people while working tech support (when instructed to insert a CD into the computer, a woman inserted it through the crack in the case, I can only assume below her CD drive) I don't think that this would be true. if anything, the Wii wouldn't have accepted anything past the first credit card because of the disc drive's auto-feed.
also, since when did Wiis come with an Ethernet port? mine only has wireless and USB.
his story is fail.
I worked in a computer center in college. There was an old story from when the computer center upgraded to computers with 3.5" drives. A person actually folded a 5.25" disk to get it to fit into the new drive.
True story. Well, true hearsay. If it's not on snopes.com, it's true, right?
Even if it isn't real; I work with the general public, and there is definitely people this stupid.
i totally believe it. when my uncle first got a computer, he thought the CD tray was a cup holder. and that's what he used it for!
@fillerbunny9:
You can buy a cat-5 LAN adapter for the Wii, it plugs into one of the USB ports on the system.
Even though I have wi-fi in my apartment, I went with the LAN adapter because it gives me a faster, more reliable connection. Games download a LOT faster, and I hardly get disconnected when gaming with this.
