Ninja Gaiden + Smash Bros = TMNT?

TMNTTournamentFighters.PNG

Without any hint of exaggeration, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles defined my childhood. In addition to the TV show, movies, action figures, comics, and running around with a purple bandana hitting people with sticks, there were also the videogames to satisfy my urge to kick some shell. Among those was a nice little Street Fighter 2 clone called TMNT: Tournament Fighters. It may not be as well regarded as other TMNT games of the time, but unlike those other games, this one let you fight against your friends instead of fighting with them. And while that may sound like it's undermining the point of the Ninja Turtles, it was still a lot of fun.

Anyway, I bring this up because I instantly thought of Tournament Fighters when I read over at GoNintendo that a new TMNT tournament-style fighting game was being made for the Wii. Now, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles haven't been in the best games lately, so there's definitely reason for skepticism, but I'm holding out hope that it could turn out great. Why you may ask? Because it's being developed by a combination of former Team Ninja employees (of Ninja Gaiden and Dead Or Alive fame) and people from the team who worked on Super Smash Bros Brawl. Very little has been revealed so far, but some of what we do know is that it will be a 4 player 2.5D fighter (like Smash Bros) with an online implementation that's said to be better than Super Smash Bros Brawl's. The main question is, are most people really willing to forgive the last several sub-par TMNT games and give this one a chance? We'll find out next September when the game is scheduled to release.

-->> ..sorry man, i ain' been a hater on the next gen of TMNT games.. (( tho TMNT 3 : Mutant Nightmare and the TMNT movie adapt for GBA being the strongest i think of all from the past what like 6 years or so ..))

Lookin' to be an all original set up not based on any particular current animation.. a dream roster for this would be not just the classic Turtle cast but characters and cross overs from the original toon, comics , and even the original Mirage run of comics.

Cross your fingers, all 3 of 'em.

.. here's to hopin' !! X/

I remember this game. I remember the SNES version not having Casey Jones or April O'Neil as playable characters. I remember anger because of this.

I remember the Genesis version having a Triceraton, but worse graphgics and gameplay than the SNES version, which (sadly) didn't have a Triceraton, but the stupid shark guy instead. I love Triceratons.
That said, it'd about HAVE to have better online than Brawl has.

Also, if you missed it, the GBA game based on the TMNT CG movie was actually awesome as hell. The DS game was trash, but the GBA was amazing. Make the effort to find it if you liked the old side-scrolling beat'em ups like TMNT Arcade, you won't be sorry.

I'm married to the 1989 cartoon series, with Krang, Will Smith's dad as Shredder, Irma constantly wanting to get laid, and Splinter was originally a human (sorry even with the ridiculous premise, I didn't buy that "as a rat I learned ninjitsu by mimicking my master's movements from my cage" crap from the live-action movie, I mean, come on).

So unless this has all the old cartoon favorites that appeared int he arcade games, I don't want it.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
