Prototype Counting Down To... Something

prototype.jpg

A countdown clock has manifested over at the official site for Prototype, Activision's science fiction infused open world action game centered around Alex Mercer, a shape shifting amnesiac out to regain his lost memories. Sort of like Samntha Who, but with less Christina Applegate. What exactly the timer is counting down to is a mystery, but speculation is we'll know at this January's Consumer Electronic Show. I for one am always slightly underwhelmed by what usually follows a time code of zeros, because usually it ends up being a trailer, or some new screen shots. What do you guys think this clock will reveal at the end? Do you all love the countdown clock cliche that seems to be gaining in popularity or is it time for publishers to devise a new tactic?

Prototype is scheduled to hit the PS3, 360, and PC on April 1st, of next year.

Am I the only one who notices the April 1st release date suspicious of an April Fools prank?
