Video: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I really loved Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. And Jade Empire. I didn't play the second KOTOR because a friend told me it wasn't as good, and BioWare didn't actually do it themselves. So I was quite thrilled to see this 5 minute teaser documentary on their newest project, the MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic. It looks fantastic, and that's just early gameplay footage. But more intriguing to me was their insistence that they're really trying to bring storyline into MMOs. I'll be curious to see if they can pull it off, because MMOs, by their very nature, are so quest-based that I can't imagine creating a properly dramatic through line. Although their description of an NPC companion character should probably help. It will be a constant character who will be part of your story, so that will help create a consistent storyline even as your real-world friends come and go in the game universe.
Now my only problem is that I don't have a PC. Oh dear BioWare, could you possibly find a way to put Star Wars: The Old Republic on the Xbox 360? Pretty please?

Is this a great xmas gift for a gamer fan?
I am not worried about making wrong choices as being being supported by micro transaction i can probably just pay a fee to change it. You can keep your money whore.

Final Fantasy XI has been crafting superb storylines in a MMO since 2002. Having at least played a trial of every MMO to come out in the last 10 years, I can't think of one that holds a candle to FFXI in terms of storyline.
I'm very interested in this game, though. Hopefully it'll be able to wash the taste that was SWO from the mouths of gamers.
