Wolverine Movie Tie-In Game Might Not Suck

Activision released some information today on the upcoming title X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which stars the hot, hairy Canuck with the claws. It's due to be released in May of 2009 just in time for the big summer blockbuster of the same name starring the hot, hairy Hugh Jackman. I can't tell you whether or not the spin-off movie is going to be any good, but the game has a good chance of rising above the usual licensed fare since it's being developed by the award-winning Raven Software. They're the ones behind Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and the X-Men Legends games. Not to mention their work with id back in the day on Heretic and HeXen.
"We have an amazing team with Raven Studios at the helm, creating what will undoubtedly be the quintessential, true-to-character Wolverine video game experience that fans have been craving," said Rob Kostich, vice president, global brand management, Activision Publishing, Inc. "X-Men Origins: Wolverine amps up the action by bringing to life Wolverine's wholly unique skills such as his brute strength, regenerative mutant abilities, and indestructible adamantium claws and skeleton in an immersive experience that is fitting to one of the most enduring and popular characters of all time."
The game will be released on pretty much every system known to man, including the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows PC, Wii, DS, PlayStation 2 and PSP. While it's set to be more of an action-adventure instead of an action-RPG, hopefully it'll live up to Raven's previous Marvel Comics titles. (And if the character model looks like a shirtless Hugh Jackman, even better!)

Raven is right down the road from me!
If this game allows me to play with Hugh Jackman, then I am on it like adamantium on skeleton.
