Evita: The Videogame?
Welcome to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Really Bad Idea: Andrew Lloyd-Webber's production company, RUG, is in talks with game publishers about making games out of Sir Lloyd-Webber's musicals, including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, The Phantom of the Opera and, god help us all, Cats.
That list is by no means exhaustive, but represents a slice of what a half-dozen game publishers are thinking about right this very minute. As a gay man I'm tickled; as a gamer, terrified!
RUG's digital director Douglas Glen phrased the idea more optimistically:
"With the video gaming audience having moved from its male-dominated roots towards a more family-oriented demographic, now is the perfect time for us to take some of the best-known names in musical entertainment in a more interactive direction,"
Is there really such a thing as the perfect time to build a level inspired by the song "Grizabella: The Glamour Cat"? If so, now might also be the perfect time to staple my eyelids shut or swallow broken glass.
Then again, I did survive highschool football by screeching Evita in the showers... maybe this isn't such a frightening idea after all?

I would LOVE to play a game based on Cats! I liked it when Mephistopheles got his shiny fur coat and started to throw electricity everywhere. Oh, and to Willbabe who said, "I'm not the only one who wants to see Scorpion fighting Mary Magdeline?", imagine Scorpion facing of against KOS-MOS from Xenosaga (SPOILER ALERT!!!), since she was the reincarnation of Mary Magdeline. He'd lose against her laser boobs!
