Peter Moore Sasses Eurogamer Over FIFA Snub

Wii schmaltz notwithstanding, I think it's fair to say that we at GayGamer rarely dive terribly deep into the world of sports games - a tradition most of the gaming press seems to follow as well. But ex-360 bigwig and current EA Sports dude Peter Moore's rant against the absence of FIFA 09 on Eurogamer's top 50 games of 2008 is worth an exception:
Tuesday morning, coffee in hand and clad in my Liverpool FC officially licensed pajamas (you think I'm kidding, don't you), I log in and scroll down the list from 10 to 1, getting more excited as I get closer to the top spot. World of Goo? I'm sure it's fun, and the reviewers certainly loved it, but surprised to see up so high... I scrolled quickly all the way to the number one spot...Huh? WTF?? As in WHERE THE HELL IS FIFA 09???...c'mon, one of the best sports games of recent times not even in the Top 50? This title will sell in excess of 10 million units when all is done and dusted, but doesn't even rank a mention?
Really? Seriously? Is it not cool to include a so-called mass market game? Bangai-O Spirits (no disrespect Treasure) makes it and FIFA 09 doesn't? Eurogamer - you are and always will be one of my favorite gaming web-sites, but you were waaaay offside on this one.
As you can see, Fruit Brute and I found Peter Moore's sassy side a while ago - at E3 2007 to be specific - but we're glad to see him share his snaps with the world at large.
Peter Moore Gets Feisty With Eurogamer [GamePolitics]

I hate Football, but it's clear that Fifa 09 has sold absolutely tons of copies for all the right reasons if reviews are to be believed.
So it definitely deserves to be up there, as selling copies is the most important thing to a game developer, a great game means shit if nobody gives a toss.
I don't see where this is supposed to go, was it a slate at Fifa, Football, European gamers, or just the fact you don't like Peter Moore/EA?
But yeah, this just further highlights the joke Eurogamer has always been. Sometimes things are successful because they are really good in their genre.
It's still cool to hate on EA, and will be for a while. And that is the only reason it isn't there.
It depends what it is a top of.
Are we talking most sold games or best games?
Because obviously, sport games are an abomination that take away from the legitimate games like RPG, action, adventure,...
People who are so into sports that they want to play it on a game console should get out of the house and go actually play them.
The fact that 60% of the games found in many a shop (especially in Europe anyway) seem to consist out of sport and racing games has always annoyed me greatly. And I assume is partly to blame for us Europeans not getting Operation Darkness, Culdcept Saga, etc.
