Rumorama: Mario And Sonic Winter Olympics On The Way

I hesitate to even say that this is a rumor, but I suppose since it hasn't officially been confirmed by Nintendo I can't say that it's a fact yet. But really, who didn't see this coming? According to Spanish game magazine Nintendo Acción, which printed the above image in its latest issue, a new game featuring two silhouettes that are clearly Mario and Sonic will be revealed in the following month's issue. As for what kind of game, the actual text of the teaser reads (as a rough translation): "Who are these two and why do they come to see each other? Find out all the details on the mystery game in the next magazine. But before that, here are some clues: games, Olympics, It's cold, It's winter..."
Hmm, whatever could this "mystery game" be? The latest Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games was hugely popular, so a Winter Olympics edition was pretty much a given anyway. I'm actually fairly excited for it, there are some pretty interesting things the Wii could do with Winter Olympic sports. Expect plenty of balance board usage from skiing and bobsleding, and I can't think of a sport more appropriate for Wii remote control than curling. Maybe if Nintendo and Sega get ambitious they will even use both the balance board and motion controls to have you making poses for figure skating. There's a lot of potential for the Winter games to be more interesting and less of a waggle-fest than the summer Olympics were, so look forward to more about this game in the future. Or whenever it is officially announced.

God, I can only HOPE they add Curling! As someone who used to actually play the sport, I've missed it sorely and would welcome even the slightest representation of it on the Wii. Thanks for the head's up!
