Rumorama: Slim Chance Of Mother 3 DS Port Is Better Than No Chance

Despite fan outcry and countless petitions, Mother 3 for the GBA never saw a release outside of Japan. Sure there is the fan translation but it just doesn't feel the same to be playing it on the PC. Well fans have a new glimmer of hope for a stateside release, thanks to a nice little quote brought to us by Brownie Brown exec Shinichi Kameoka. "If we were asked to make one [a DS version of Mother 3], then we would definitely like for fans abroad to play the game," Kameoka said.
Come on Nintendo, the developers are interested and the fans are clamoring for it. Nintendo has a history of holding the Mother series from fans outside of Japan, so there's still no guarantee that Nintendo will give the go ahead for a localized DS port, but I'm hoping that Nintendo has seen the immense fan reaction to the fan translation and decides to bring the game stateside. If so then Mother 3 would already be my most anticipated game of whatever year it would get released.

Indeed, some chance is better than none, but I wonder why Brownie Brown would want to sink time into a Mother 3 remake when it could probably get the OK to just make a Mother 4. I mean, just because Itoi is done with the series doesn't mean Nintendo is, right? I just assumed it would fall into someone else's hands, and Brownie Brown makes as much sense as anybody else.
It's a little late now, isn't it? A huge portion of the fan base already has the English translation patch.
