Video: Street Fighter IV: Ryu Vs. Sakura
Wow. I mean, just... wow. Having seen Street Fighter IV in action in a Chinatown arcade this weekend, I and my fellow Gaygamers were in awe at how beautiful this game looks in action. It really is a thing of beauty. I personally wasn't gutsy enough to try my hand at it because it was a dollar a play, and the guy at the other console had racked up around ten wins in a row and wasn't budging. He was kicking everyone's asses. We'd suspected he might be a plant by Capcom, but honestly, how many games will you sell if you don't give people a chance to play for more than a minute or two before finishing them off? Here is some gameplay of adorable little schoolgirl Sakura kicking the snot out of hunky, beefy Ryu. Oh, and if you think the constant "Haddokens" are annoying, you should hear the obnoxious commentator voiceover I've heard in some other gameplay videos. Thank goodness it seems you can turn that guy off. Here's hoping the full release retains Japanese voices, though!

Looks very good for a new take on a classic 2D swing...... i like!
Ryu looks like a Mongoloid with Down's, and Sakura would be well out of school by this point. SFII takes place something like 5 years after the Alpha series, though EX4 here seems to be totally ignoring long-established story canon anyway...so why is she not any older and still wearing her school uniform?
Add all this to the gameplay looking slow and clunky, with transitions between moves being incredibly awkward looking. Gone is the depth and technique of even the Alpha games, let alone the pinnacle of the series, 3rd Strike. This is essentially SFII with ugly 3-D graphics piled on it. And I mean ugly, Ryu's face looks like something a cat would bring up after eating some grass.
Ugh. Every new screenshot/video I see of this game makes me hate it more...

Ya know its a real shame they cut out simba. he was 2D. that would have really made someone happy.
