Dead Rising 2 Confirmed... And Cross-Platform!
Yes, I'm well aware that "confirming" Dead Rising 2 after we just posted the trailer seems a bit weird, but since the trailer was "leaked" it seems only natural that more official Capcom information would be released. And what information we've received. This time, not only is the title bring released for the Xbox 360, we will also be seeing simultaneous released on the PC and PS3. This is fantastic news for those of us that couldn't afford to buy more than 2 of the three platforms. Or, you know, shallow fanboys.
The new title will take place a full two years after the original Dead Rising, this time in a place called Fortune City, a gambling paradise. I'm guessing it will be a lot like killing zombies in Las Vegas. That's right, the virus that ravaged humans and poodles alike in the last game was not quite checked by our handsome, rugged photographer (he shot wars, you know) and now it is up to our new, yellow jacketed hero to save a small army of civilians.
Along with the cross-platform release, Capcom has also decided to bring on Blue Castle Studios to help with the development process. They, along side the original development team, will be bringing this title to the three consoles. Hopefully with more than one zombie standing in a lonely mall. You know what I'm talking about.
There is still no word on the occupation of the hero this time, but the photography made me happy. It was like Pokemon Snap with zombie snizz.

THE DEAD WALK AGAIN AS CAPCOM® CONFIRMS DEAD RISING(TM) 2
Sequel to 1.5 million-plus seller announced for multiple gaming platforms
Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today confirmed that Dead Rising™ 2 is in development for three different gaming platforms: the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC. The sequel to the 1.5 million-plus selling Dead Rising™, Dead Rising 2 will take the franchise to a new level of zombie-killing fun with tens of thousands of zombies, the all new gambling paradise of Fortune City to explore and conquer plus a host of new in-game objects that can all be used as deadly weapons to stave off the zombie assault.
Dead Rising 2 is set several years after the infamous zombie invasion of Willamette. Unfortunately, the zombie virus was not contained at the conclusion of Dead Rising, spreading unchecked throughout the United States and Dead Rising 2 depicts a country where zombie outbreaks continue to strike.
Dead Rising 2 is being developed in partnership with up and coming Canadian developer Blue Castle Games. A number of members from the original Dead Rising team will be working alongside Blue Castle Games throughout the development process, including Capcom's global head of research and development, Keiji Inafune, who as the game's Producer will play an active role in the project.
Released in 2006, Dead Rising won praise across the globe for its mix of intense zombie action and dark humor, garnering numerous awards including IGN's "Most Innovative Design for Xbox 360", Gamespot's "Best Action-Adventure Game" for 2006 and "Action Game of the Year" at the 2006 Spike TV Video Game Awards.
Further details concerning the story and gameplay of Dead Rising 2 will be made available shortly.

Wait...Frank's not in it?
Suddenly my previous excitement is tempered quite a bit...I mean, I'll still get it and play the hell out of it, but I was hoping frank would be back (hopefully we'll find out what happened to him after the "real" ending for DR1, at least).
Thank christ there isn't a Wii version dragging the others down.
Man, this guy isn't remotely as hot as Frank was. :-\
Uh...last I checked, the PC isn't a "console."
But that's just semantics. I want to kill zombies with motorcycles now.
I didn't even notice there was a PC version. Well, that makes deciding which version to buy easy. Now just give me a PC port of the first game, Capcom, and I'll be happy.
let's hope there's an underwear mode.
Thank christ Neo's here to remind us that the Wii sucks. What would we do without him...
... other then have fun witch ever way we choose ;P.
Very cool news...though it's a shame about Frank. Perhaps they'll give him (or maybe some other characters) a cameo?
This new guy is hot but I hope Frank is in the game also. Two hot guys are always better than one, hopefully this game will continue the trend of revealing outfits too.
@ Matt
You can't deny that the Wii version of Dead Rising is going to be completely terrible. Seriously, it's a sad, broken thing compared to the original. No photo mode? No JUMPING? Seriously, what the hell?
@Shin Gallon
From all reports, yes, it'll be a sucky version of Dead Rising, but it's a fun version of "Resident Evil 4: Leon goes to the Mall". Apparently, Capcom re-using the Res4 engine was quite literal. It plays and feels like a re-mixed version of that game. With icky graphics, but still.
And it's not so much that the Wii version will suck, so much that wackos like Neo act as if it's very existence negates all other versions just by being made. It's weird. People who haven't played the original or have access to a PS360 might enjoy it. Who are we to say that they aren't "really" having fun or what not?
Well, this guy seems disappointingly less attractive then Frank was. Man I never thought I'd judge a game based on the hotness of the main character, but thats strangely all I can think about for this one.
At some point, someone in this game is going to win a lot of money (like at the slot machines) and say "this must be my lucky day!" (or words to that effect)...and then immediately get chomped on by a zombie...
