Lips Open Mic Contest
Okay, you all know how much I love Lips. But I've made no secret of the fact that I can't actually sing. So personally, I'm not terribly interested in Microsoft's latest announcement, but maybe some of you more musically talented folks might be...
Microsoft has teamed with AT&T to present the Lips Open Mic Contest, and to win, all you have to do is compose an original song (score and lyrics) and submit a video of your performance to www.zune.net/attlipscontest. Yeah, that's all. Just make an actual song. A good one, naturally. You've got until March 13, which doesn't seem like very much time at all. After that date, a panel of judges will separate the wheat from the chaff and select the five best songs, which will be posted on Xbox LIVE and Zune.net on April 10. Then it's up to gamers to vote for their favorite.
The winner will nab themselves a trip to Los Angeles, tickets the Warped Tour, a flat screen TV, an Xbox 360, a 12GB Zune, and most awesomely of all, their song will be immortalized as a free download for Lips! Four runner-ups will get Xbox Elite 360s and Zune players. But the winning song will be sung by everyone! (And it will, because I always download the free tracks for Rock Band regardless of whether or not they're any good — they're free — so I'll totally do the same if they offer free tunes for Lips!)
