$90 Million Law-Suit Says Xbox Live == MPath (Riiiight)
Nothing grinds my gears like frivolous patents and lawsuits. Seriously, nothing hampers innovation like someone that has some general "an apparatus for performing a task" patent. Who is doing this you ask? Paltalk, otherwise known as the vultures that are picking at the technological corpse that is MPath.
They have decided that Microsoft uses some of their technology illegally. More specifically $90 million worth. They own a patent on "controlling interactive applications over multiple computers." Yep. That's right, nice and general.
PalTalk lawyer Max Tribble said "Microsoft had many meetings with MPath regarding their technology, and Microsoft found the technology to be very valuable."
Fortunately for Microsoft, they said they are not concerned. They admit to having talked to PalTalk about using their technology, but decided to move on with their own platform. A smart move, considering how the network has turned out.
