Fantastic Flash Friday: Music Catch 2
There's only one thing that is more relaxing than listening to light and flowing piano music on your computer, and that's listen to that music while playing a simplistic flash game. That is exactly what is delivered in the game Music Catch 2. The game is a wonderful mix of relaxing music and easy gameplay all with a short playtime giving you fun and relaxation at a moments notice (and only a click away).
As can be expected from the title, this game is a sequel to the game Music Catch. The original game featured a few songs and a rotating bank ont he screen that would produce note shapes for your cursor to try and catch. Randomly, along with the normal green and blue notes, yellow and red notes would also appear. Grabbing yellow notes increases your cursor's size and also its point multiplier. Catching a red note knocks your point multiplier down by half. Every now and again a purple note appears which, if grabbed, brings all normal and yellow notes to your cursor automatically for the next few seconds. In the end the game becomes a test in collection and avoidance as the game music races onwards towards the conclusion of the song.
The sequel adds a few extra features to the game. There are multiple songs to unlock, multiple categories of shapes to be dispensed, and different ways in which the shapes move on and off the screen. All of these options are slowly unlocked as you play more and more of the game's levels. Mastering all the levels result allows you to select any options and song, as well as unlock the option to input an mp3 URL for which the game will then dynamically create shapes for that song to be played. While I loved the four songs included in the game, allowing the user to play songs through a URL was a good way to add infinite variety to the game.
So if you want to take a break and listen to some music while playing a clever little flash game, Music Catch 2 has got you covered.

What a fantastic game!
The piano music was just divine.. I could happily sit there and listen to it without having to play, but by actually playing it feels like you are apart of the music..
I love these types of games!
