Game Informer Spilling New Bioshock 2 Details

After the Big Sister reveal last weekend, more news is coming out of the just arriving issues of Game Informer and their cover article on Bioshock 2. Not everything is confirmed as of yet, but there are a few bits of information that appear increasingly solid.
First, for the return to Rapture, you'll be getting back in the helmet as the "first ever" Big Daddy. You'll get a drill as a melee weapon, and will be able to use plasmids. Presumably your prototype status gives you a bit more freedom than the lumbering hulks we've gotten used to seeing. You'll still be tasked with taking Little Sisters from other Big Daddies, but there's a twist: you can harvest the girls for their Adam as in the first game, but instead of just saving them, in Bioshock 2 you can "adopt" them, and help them to gather Adam from the corpses still strewn about the underwater city. Of course, this leaves them vulnerable to attack from Splicers, who must be more desperate than ever.
Now, playing as a Big Daddy protecting a Little Sister might sound familiar (and not entirely pleasant) to players of the first game, but hopefully they'll be able to pull it off a bit better this time around.
As for the Big Sister, her role in the game is still a bit hazy, but reports from subscribers suggest that she is a grown Little Sister who hunts you as you take down Big Daddies throughout the game. Other unconfirmed reports include an upgraded skill tree, underwater battles outside of Rapture, and some kind of multiplayer mode. Shacknews has a decent roundup at the link below, but expect more details to solidify as the game gets closer to release date, sometime between August 1 and October 31, 2009.

Dear T2,
I will purchase every bit of DLC you put out for this game (including the alternate costumes and "VS Mode" that obviously should have been shipped with the game). I will buy your special edition regardless of how lackluster the swag is. I will babysit your children on weekends! All that I ask is that you please (PLEASE) don't ruin this for us.
I'm really worried about this game now,it sounds terrible
Uh oh. It sounds like they took the escort mission from the first game (which I thought was pretty terrible) and made it into an entire game. This sounds pretty bad.
I think I am just going to replay Bioshock instead of this seemingly uninspired sequel.
Did anybody else read that these are rumors? Honestly, it seems like calling these "details" in the post title is jumping the gun a little.
Isn't this supposed to be an April fools joke? An entire game based around an escort mission sounds pretty awful.
Actually, this is all official, though it is unclear (but seems unlikely) that the entire game will play like an escort mission (Little Sisters are supposed to be invincible). Anyway, I don't think it makes any sense to despair solely based on these details: Resident Evil 4 is arguably the highlight of the series, even though there are no zombies to speak of.
wait a second, so this is a sequal that takes place AFTER the first bioshock, I thought I herd that and the teaser site reffers to girls getting kidnapped at a date that is later than the original, well, then how can we be playing as the FIRST big daddy, I'm pretty sure I played as one before and saw many active already. Am I the only one who is confused here?
