Marvel Zombies Get Their Own MMO

buscema heroes.jpg

With the Sony-developed DC Universe Online slowly but surely making its way to PS3s at some point late this year or early 2010, I suppose it was only a matter of time before Marvel decided to follow suit. And now they have. Marvel Entertainment has struck an exclusive 10-year deal with Gazillion Entertainment to develop massively multiplayer online games based on the Marvel Universe.

First in development is a casual MMO for younger gamers based on the kid-friendly "Super Hero Squad" property. I suppose that'll end up on the Wii. But Gazillion is also going to develop Marvel Universe, an MMO for PCs and consoles. The only thing is that while Sony is a known quantity, Gazillion is new, so there's no way of knowing how well it'll end up turning out. Guess we'll have to wait and see!

I think your post almost implies that an MMO might "turn out well" under Sony's tender loving care.

I find such an implication to be quite inaccurate.

Huh. Maybe I was being overly optimistic, based on what I've seen of DCU Online so far, but I guess I also thought Everquest was supposed to be great. Not that I ever played it, but I heard good things. And it was really popular. And I thought Sony was responsible for that. Then again, I've been wrong before!
