New Wii Resident Evil Is Umbrella Chronicles Sequel, The Darkside Chronicles
On Monday we heard that Thursday would bring word of a Resident Evil game to make Wii fans happy. Well it looks like the cat's out of the bag a bit early as Famitsu magazine showed images of the new game Biohazard: The Darkside Chronicles. And while it isn't exactly the Resident Evil 2 or Code Veronica remake that fans seemed to have been hoping for, this Umbrella Chronicles style light gun game does look like it will feature Leon and Claire's adventures from Resident Evil 2. The events of Resident Evil 2 were strangely absent from The Umbrella Chronicles, so it looks like Biohazard: The Darkside Chronicles will fill in that gap, and probably bring an on-rails version of Code Veronica along with it to complete the series in rail shooter form.
Not much else is known at this point since the official announcement from Capcom is still a day away. What do you think Wii owners? Is this news that "makes you happy?" I'm having mixed feelings myself. While I love light gun games, and enjoyed Umbrella Chronicles, between House of the Dead: Overkill, Dead Space: Extraction, and the half dozen rail shooters already available on the Wii, it might be nice to get some gameplay variety at some point. But who knows, maybe with the new subtitle Capcom will pull a Soul Calibur IV and put Darth Vader in it for no reason.

Hehehe.
Rail gun games are great for the Wii, it totally circumvents doing anything original with the controls. And Resi is always a cash in. Far be it for this to be another cynical cash in on the ailing dust gathering system, another chance to bring it out of retirement for 2 days, back in that closet for another 2 months. Right alongside the Wii Fit you don't use.
That said, I love rail gun games so will give it a go at my brothers on the Wii he rarely uses.
I lived Umbrella Chronicles, I wil;l definately buy and enjoy this but what games would be represented in it? We already know 2 cause of Leon,Code is a maybe...but what else s there? Is 4 worth doing? Umbrella Chronicles had 3 + the extra chapter...

As long as they fix the issues from UC (the horrible aiming for example when HOTD:Overkill is much better) and give us at least a BIG chunk of RE2 plus extras ( Code Veronica for sure...maybe Krauser from RE4?) I will be happy... of course I would prefer to have a RE2 remake but well, I guess Capcom knows that they can do what they want and get loads of money in the end... LOL But hey: a CGI movie and 2 games! what else can a fan ask?ah, Konami... when you gonna give us some fan service?
p.s.: and by the way, why not a FPS?why everything has to be on rails these days? :(
If they do RE2 then maybe they'll add RE4 and do both of Leon's adventures.
Of course they could add Gaiden as well as that had Leon as well. :)
I would've prefered an original story, but this is better than a straight up boring remake where the only diference with the original is graphical.
And SilentSpartan, I hope you were kidding there. If anything, 50% of the games nowadays are FPSers.
As a fan of rail gun games (of which there are actually very few) I'm quite happy with this.
I just wish they'd bring the Silent Hill rail gun game to the Wii too. And maybe some more non-zombie games.

Hey, I loved UC but you know what? The only thing that bugs me on a rail shooter is that you can´t move by yourself... There´s a lot of FPS around, you right, but remember "RE Dead Aim"? You can explore in third person and fight in first person view... now think if Capcom decide to do that with The Darkside Chronicles?O.O
And you are soo right: me wants The Silent Hill Arcade TOO!!!Why not?No one seems to take the series seriously anymore, LOL... my 2 cents: a well made remake of the first game to PS3/360 would reboot and save the series... but I´m pretty sure that´s not going to happen... :(
p.s.: but I would be VERY happy with a "Silent Hill 1" remake for Wii... if the rumor is true... :D
