Square Takes Over Eidos
![]()
Square Enix has been making a lot of unusual moves lately, by admitting its shortcomings and opening an LA studio and now by following through on its February bid to buy Eidos.
One of the last remaining UK publishing houses, Eidos faced an overwhelming 85% shareholder vote in support of the buyout - which means Square will acquire Eidos and its constituents once Eidos' stock shares are delisted in late April. Square Enix paid Eidos shareholders 32 pence per share, and not a ha'penny more.
Now that Lara Croft and Agent 47 belong to the Squeenix, can we look forward to Hitman: My Life as a Meanie and Tomb Raider: Chocobo Covenant?

Does this make Square-Enix the first triple-continental game developer?
Triple-continental game developer sounds SEX-EY lmao
I honestly would love seeing a little chocobo image make it's way into a Tomb Raider. Something simmilar to the chocobo on the Natural history museum banner in Parasite Eve. It's something minimal and doesn't really add anything to the game its an Easter egg. :D we love our Easter eggs :D
I'm hoping this means there is a slim chance that Legacy of Kain gets some attention. Its got enough angst and a white haired anti-hero in black leather with a sword as tall as he is so it'll fight right in.
