UNIQLO Brings You Gamer Shirts

I have to admit, Pop It or Drop It is probably one of the best taglines I have seen for the game Dig Dug, not to mention the retro look to the shirt. Best thing is that this shirt is part of a series of gaming t-shirts that the Japanese clothing store, UNIQLO, is producing for its consumers. For those of you that have never heard of UNIQLO before, it is like the Old Navy of Japanese clothing stores: found everywhere and super inexpensive; however, their stores are much harder to find overseas. There is at least one store in London and another one in NYC that I have visited. Add on to that the fact that they seem to mark the prices up overseas (probably due to import fees) and the shirts are no longer Old Navy bargins but more in the $20-$30 range. The high price point and lack of locations leaves many gamers high and dry, but it doesn't mean we can't enjoy what they are offering (or go online to order them), even if we might not get our hands on them in person.
So it looks like there is a long list of games being released in t-shirt form, and here's a preview of when some of them will be available (courtesy of Kotaku):
On March 16, Pac-Man, Bomberman, Dig Dug, Arkanoid, Galaxian, Mappy, Ape Escape and Resident Evil shirts go on sale.
On April 6, Rally-X, Phoenix Wright and Densha de Go! shirts go on sale.
On April 20, Monster Hunter, Xevious, Street Fighter II, Mega Man, Sonic The Hedgehog, Namco's Family Tennis, Tekken and Puyo Pop! go on sale.
On April 27, Hot Shot's Golf, The Tower of Druaga, and PaRappa The Rapper shirts go on sale.
In May, LittleBigPlanet, Doko Demo Issyo and Ghosts'n Goblins shirts go on sale. The exact date has not been announced yet.
In June, Ridge, Virtua Fighter, and Momotaro Densetsu shirts go on sale. The exact date has not been announced yet.
You can head over to the UNIQLO site and see all the designs for the March 16th shirts already up. At the site you can also read (in both English and Japanese) about all of the featured games, which is especially nice for some of the games that were never really ported over to English. I'm especially excited to see what the PaRappa, Phoenix Wright, and Mega Man shirts look like when they are released. Now if only I knew someone in Japan to get me some of these for cheap (where did I place Noun's email address again?).

Didn't they roll shirts like these out last year?
can you give us a link? i cant find them
Hmmm... are my links not working or something? Oh well, here's the info I think you guys are asking for:
JD: The "never heard" and "before" links in the first paragraph are links to previous stories we've run about UNIQLO doing other gaming t-shirts (mainly Sega ones).
Jerry: The "UT x Japan > Games" link at the end of the article should take you to the page with all the shirt designs. As you can see from the list I posted, the first batch aren't out until March 16th, so you can't purchase them yet.
i love uniqlo. especially their skinny jeans and boxer briefs. waaay nicer and just as cheap as h&m!
and i cant wait for the parappa design to drop.
It's better than any Old Navy. I love Uniqlo and their slim fit pants. And they've got some great designer collabs.
