Video: Super Pet Shop Brothers
At first I couldn't tell if the new Pet Shop Boys video for Love, Etc. had a videogame theme or if it was just my Mario-addled mind seeing things. Then Pac Man showed up and I was like, "Well all right then!" Directed by Han Hoogerbrugge, it's a baroque take on a platformer, with a round, bouncy Neil Tennant as the avatar. Honestly, after Echochrome and the Pixeljunk games, I could definitely see something like this on PSN.
Love, Etc. is the first single from the Pet Shop Boys new record, Yes, due out March 23 in the UK and April 21st in North America, for those of you who still buy music.

Saw this on Perez last week. I couldn't believe an act as old as they are would do something this trippy. Song's not bad either.
Depeche Mode has a weird video out too, but this makes theirs look very conventional.
raindog - while they might be an older act, they definitely keep things fresh! see them on tour sometime, and they still use the latest in video technology and stage work to do some impressive stuff!
i'm glad they've shown up with an awesome new single!
actually the background music, without the lyrics, sounds kinda like something that if slowed down a bit, might be in a Castlevania game x3
Never let it be said that the PSB let things get stale!
I've been a fan of them for ages now and I'm constantly impressed by their new offerings.
I'm super excited for this album. :3
I've listening to them since I was in grade school and my oldest brother heard them, quite the improvement over the last album. If the rest of the album is up to the quality of this track I'll be very happy.
Crazy that both PSB and Depeche Mode have albums out this spring. The 80's attack once again.
Very excited for this new PSB release.
Also to be released at the same time (both UK & US) is a dual disc of the CD entitled "Yes, Pet Shop Boys etc." The bonus disc has an all new selection of dance-dub mixed songs.
Sorry, I'm a HUGE PSB geek. :)
I'm a huge Pet Shop Boys fan and they won the outstanding contribution to music award at the Brits this year, rounding off the evening with an amazing nine-and-a-half-minute medley performance.
I really like the video for Love, etc. and think the album's going to be fantastic as well.
I'm also going to see them at the O2 this June. Hurrah!
