Don't Buy Rhythm Heaven At GameStop

This is just a quick warning to all you folks who might have been persuaded by Game-Boy's review of Rhythm Heaven to go out and pick it up at your friendly neighborhood game shop. If you do (and you should the game is awesome fun!), just make sure your neighborhood game shop is friendlier than my GameStop. Or any GameStop, really. See, I popped in on Sunday afternoon to partake of their Game Days bargains, but found nothing at all remotely interesting. I was sadly disappointed to find no copies of Sam & Max for the Wii, but figured I could still pick up a copy of Rhythm Heaven while I was there. (I'd been suckered in by the demo on the Nintendo Channel) They rang me up and I paid and went home to enjoy my new game, thinking only briefly about the fact that I'd thought it was supposed to retail for $29.99. Sure enough, a little bit of interweb spelunking proved to me I'd been rooked. All the other stores are selling it for the $29.99 retail price, while GameStop is for some reason charging $34.99. Why the extra five bucks? Who knows. I'd already opened mine, so I couldn't return it, but I wanted to warn you guys not to get cheated like I was. (I also seem to recall this happening with another title at some point in the recent past, but I can't remember exactly...) Buyer beware!

In case you forgot, they also did this with Kirby: Super Star Ultra. Bastards.
In case you forgot... NEVER BUY FROM GAMESTOP!! No need to explain all the reasons why...but they do not get my money anymore.
Gamestop ALWAYS does this to newer "Nintendo" and "Squaresoft" titles, 5.00 more than any other place, so never buy from them when it first comes out
Yeah after getting my DSi at gamestop, i went down the street to Target and bought Rhythm Heaven for 29.99 :)
Easy solution Woot. Buy another copy at $29.99 at a FAIR retailer, then return it to GameStop with your GameStop receipt. Voila! You have your $5 back!
This was done with the Wii Zapper with Link's Crossbow training. It was $24.99 for a while at gamestop.
@ScottieC: You can't return any media (movies, games, music) for anything but the exact same thing once you've opened it. This is a federal copyright law.
@scarritt: Scottie wanted him to buy a copy and return it unopened to GameStop. You've got 30 days to return an unopened game to GS, so dig your receipt out of the trash and go for it!
Don't shop at Gamestop period. DS (and before the GBA) games have a super small markup. The stores buy them for around $26 and sell them for $30. because Gamestop doesn't like this small markup, they will price several of their DS games at 5 bucks more than everywhere else. They did it with Kirby Superstar, and even several Pokemon titles.
I can understand not liking the terrible markup price, but they are essentially ripping off people who don't know better.
I was at the mall this weekend with a friend and we stopped into Gamestop. They had a bunch of advertisements around for the DSi and I was telling my friend about how I liked my original DS better than the later versions. Well a clerk overheard our conversation and decided to but in telling my friend how I was wrong and the DSi was so much better than the others. He about got punched in the throat I was not happy....
the solution is easy- 3 steps:
1.) buy at a store that has it cheaper.
2.) return the unopened copy to GameStop.
3.) never return to GameStop, or its affiliates.
*obviously only works if GameStop and other store don't mark the package (i.e. price sticker)
:O I wish I did research before-hand. I bought the game for the boyfriend while he was getting his DSi... Could have saved my butt 5 dollars. -_-
yeah that pretty much happens with every title here in PR when it's bought at Gamestop, but here here are other retailers that charge even more :(
