EA Joins Twitter Battle With Ashton Kutcher

No, seriously. Sometimes you can't make this stuff up. Well, you could, but it never seems to come close to the weirdness of real life. Anyhow, apparently Ashton Kutcher has announced that the number of his Twitter followers is rivaling that of the CNN Breaking News Twitter feed, and if he beats them to the 1,000,000 member mark, he would punk CNN founder Ted Turner. Not on his show or anything, because all Ashton Kutcher seems to do nowadays is Twitter. But he said he'd ding-dong-ditch the guy's house and post video of it for all to see.
What does this have to do with videogames? I'm getting there, be patient. Basically, EA has decided to support Ashton in his efforts, sweeting the pot by offering his millionth follower on Twitter a copy of every game EA makes in 2009 for the gaming system of their choice. Which is a pretty impressive prize by itself, but they're also going to make that person into a character in The Sims 3 if Ashton wins the contest. And because Ashton has also promised to donate 10,000 mosquito bed nets to charity for World Malaria Day on April 24, EA is also going to donate 5,000 mosquito nets in the name of Ashton's millionth follower regardless of whether or not he beats CNN to the punch.
What a bizarre and unique promotion. Now if I only had the slightest of interest in Twitter...

At least the man is doing something for a charity during a horrific global recession. It's hardly news to report this.

Umm who is he?
bear - he is the current lover of demi moore. Has about the talent of the Bill&Ted-era Reeves and little success with stupid shows like the mentioned punk'd. Props to him for doing the charity thing though.
I've actually taken up twittering again after leaving my account deserted for 8 months. Maybe I'll lose interest again, who knows.
