Earth Day Game: Plan It Green

Today is Earth Day! Tons of companies and organizations around the globe are doing things to help try and make the world a little greener and eco-friendly, and what better way to get that message across than through gaming. Turns out that Nation Geographic thought just that when they made their green city planning simulation game Plan It Green. Here's their synopsis for the game:
As the Mayor of Greenville, players have the opportunity to create a green city... As mayor of your hometown, you have vowed to bring about a new green future by changing the ways of the past,. You are working with close supporters to restore Greenvile to its former glory and beauty.Watch as Greenville transforms before your eyes as you build eco-homes, apply green upgrades and bring new clean jobs and industry to your hometown! Plan It Green is the first game that leverages the resources of National Geographic, an organization that was green when green wasn't cool.
As far as gameplay goes you can have multiple neighborhoods to improve with parks, eco-homes and environmental upgrades on any of 45 levels all while being able to monitor your Greendex to see how eco-friendly you are working. Currently you can play a demo of the game for free, or can buy a full version of the game for $19.95. It's a good game to try out, and does teach some of the things people can do to have more eco-friendly housing and neighborhoods. I'm going to build my own New San Francisco, with hopefully a few less bums than the current one.
