Video: Rock Band Unplugged

Oh my God, has Harmonix actually pulled this off? Have they been able to create a viable portable Rock Band? Judging from this trailer for Rock Band Unplugged, I may actually have to dig my PSP out of the mothballs and charge that sucker up for the first time in ages this June when this comes out. It's got the music, the costume changes, the characters, the venues, the managers, and all four instruments. Not wild about what I read about how during the song you actually play all four instruments in turn, but maybe there's an option to play one instrument for the whole song. Either way, color me impressed. Surprised and impressed. (And my hand won't cramp up like with the portable Guitar Hero on the DS!)

This is funny... Its true though. They might as well give us either Frequency or Amplitude. Or another Name... but dont call it Rockband. Thats just plain silly.

It's really not that silly at all. Sony has shot down all proposals by Harmonix to continue the franchise started by Frequency & Amplitude. This technically is another iteration of those games, but with a much stronger brand name that is theoretically capable of bringing in profits for Sony.

If it's the only way to get a sequel to Amplitude or Frequency out, then why not? I'd personally rather have this than a peripheral add on to the PSP, or any other Rock Band spin off. Does anyone here really believe Lego Rock Band is a better idea than this?

I'm with StevenRafael. "Oh, don't call it Rock Band." Close your eyes for the title screen! This is Amplitude 2, straight up, just run with it.

It's named Rock Band for brand loyalty, like why GH:WT was still called "Guitar Hero" even though you could play drums and sing.

I'll be dusting off the PSP for this one as well assuming I have the cash once it is out. What I am really excited about is when they finally bring over The Jackson 5 to the full version of Rock Band. All songs on this game that aren't already included in other iterations of Rock Band are supposed to make their way there before too very long.

At least that's the word on the street...and the street is the internet...so who knows.

Holy... I'm so in love with you, Harmonix. I'm so freakin' in love.

@Blatz
If they license the songs for the PSP, they might as well port the songs over to the consoles. More mileage that way, so it makes sense.

But yeah, a rumor is still a rumor.
