1 Vs. 100 U.S. Beta On Xbox Live Starts Tomorrow
Xbox Live's virtual game show 1 vs. 100 is starting up a beta test for the US market, and all Xbox Live Gold members can take part. There's a small FAQ up now, detailing the prizes that beta members can win.
- One (1) Grand Prize : A Samsung 52" plasma HDTV and surround sound/receiver bundle. Approximate Retail Value (ARV) of Grand Prize: $3000
- Two (2) First Prizes : An Acer Aspire laptop computer. ARV: $500
- Two (2) Second Prizes : A Microsoft Zune 120GB music player. ARV: $200
- Thirty (30) Third Prizes : A Microsoft Xbox Live Arcade Game of Sponsor's choosing. ARV of Third Prize: $15 each
Although "skill-based prizing will ultimately be a feature of 1 vs 100 Live," right now these prizes are just being given away as a sweepstakes, so you don't even gotta have no book smarts to win. During the test there are two different ways to play. One way is as part a two hour live show featuring a host, with a players chosen at random to either be the One or part of the 100 person mob. The other way is a half hour game called 1 vs. 100 Extended Play, which will improve players' chances of being chosen for the live show.
The 1 vs. 100 Beta also introduces "Amping:"
Amping is how your character celebrates or shows off during the game.Press the Y button to Amp. Press the D-button left or right to switch to another Amping gesture. Try pressing Y rapidly and repeatedly to "level up" and see special animations.
Amping includes jumping, dancing, clapping, flexing, fist-pumping and other enthusiastic gestures. Amping is available as an option whenever you can see your Avatar. If you can't see your Avatar during certain parts of the game flow, your special animation will continue until you can see your Avatar again.
So if you've always wanted to see your avatar act like a jackass, there you go. Check Xbox Live tomorrow for more details about getting in on the beta test, and the first live show is scheduled for 7:30 PDT tomorrow night.

I agree with Randy, they need to do The Prices Is Right next. I'm excited for 1 vs. 100 though.
