Blizzard's New MMO Not Starcraft Or Diablo
We already heard that Blizzard is currently working on a "next-gen" MMO; however, we've been given very little information on what that MMO property might be. Of course the usually suspects were Starcraft or Diablo, but each seems like an odd fit considering they already are working on sequels to both franchises currently. In a long rant by a forum poster, it brashly states many ways in which he feels that Blizzard is becoming SOE. About the unannounced upcoming MMO he says, "people are saying that there is another MMO in the works . . . if there was, they would be advertising it already." One community manager at Blizzard decided to respond to the post and point out the many flaws in his argument, and had this interesting tidbit to add about the upcoming MMO:
We have nothing to advertise for the new MMO because it's a shell of a game thus far. We've already stated it'll be a brand new franchise, which means the lore, art, and game play are being developed entirely from scratch. It's an overwhelming process, but a process through which we excel. Our track record supports this.
There you have it; the new MMO is a completely new franchise being built from the ground up. It's a bit of bittersweet news. Sweet because Blizzard has a pretty good track record with building fascinating and colorful worlds. Bitter since this means that the game is probably still a year or two away from even seeing a beta. Well bittersweet chocolate isn't too bad so I can wait since I got my Starcraft 2 and Diablo III candy to hold me over in the meantime. We'll be sure to keep our eye out for more news on the new MMO franchise as it becomes available.

WHAT? What are they smoking? The only game they might be able to claim art is Diablo. Starcraft and Warcraft are direct ripoffs of Games Workshop products.
