Cowabunga! Turtles In Time Remake Announced

Long, long ago I received my very my first "all mine" action figure, a brand spanking new Donatello from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. From then on, the character, cartoon series, comic books, and all of their incarnations have held a special place in my heart. With this in mind, just try to imagine the loud, schoolgirl-like shrieks I let out when I discovered that one of the greatest games involving the heroes in a half shell is getting a great looking remake.
Revealed through the recent string of Galabunga events in New York City and hosted on a totally rad looking Turtle van I've always dreamed about, fans got a first glimpse of an enhanced version of TMNT: Turtles in Time. The fine folks over at Ninja Pizza were able to confirm that the game will be coming to Xbox Live Arcade and the development team is "working on bringing it to Wii." Honestly, I couldn't care where it ends up just as long as I can get my mitts on it. Turtles in Time is easily one of my favorite 16-bit era games and I have many fond memories of wasting my measly allowance on mastering the arcade version, quarter by quarter. I can't wait to play it again for the first time!
Thanks to JigSaw for pointing this this out the forums! Hit the jump for some shaky-cam video footage.

why can't it be cell-shaded 2D HD?
that would suit the game much better
I have very fond memories of my brother and I playing this game over and over.
um.. woot woot
From the looks of it this is a remake of the arcade game, not the SNES version. That means no Technodrome level and a couple other boss battle differences from the version most people are familiar with. It's still going to be awesome though.
BOOOOO!!! NaviFairy already pointed out what I noticed right away - it's the arcade version.
The SNES one is so, so much better.
Now we get to fight cement man or whatever instead of Bebop and Rocksteady.
At first I was all "yay awesome". But watching the video, I'm much less wowed TBH... I love the game because of its distinct 16-bitness, if that makes any sense, and I would really prefer to keep it that way. I'd much rather have an all new side-scrolling 2D-BMU with the Turtles. They can change around anything they want and it won't feel awkward. Unless they invent some stupid new villains that nobody cares about...
