Ghostbusters Game Gets Multi-Platform Release in US, Limited Release In Europe
Looks like European fans of the Ghostbusters game will only be able to play it on one console while their North American counterparts will be able to enjoy it on all three, plus PC and heandhelds. Atari announced today that it will be publishing Ghostbusters: The Video Game in North America on the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS and PC. Europe however, is a different story: Sony will be publishing it there as a PS3 exclusive. Down the road, a PSP version will be available worldwide. The game will release on June 16th in N.A. and June 19th in Europe to coincide with the release of the 25th Anniversary edition of Ghostbusters on Blu-Ray and DVD.
I'm not exactly sure why the European version is going to be a Sony exclusive. Maybe Europe doesn't have as many Ghostbusters fans as the US? Here it is certainly a cultural icon for certain generations, but perhaps this is not so elsewhere. So let's hear it European readers: Is Ghostbusters just not as popular there? I, for one, would be interested to know.

Absolute bastards.
Ghostbusters is a cultural icon to anyone with sense of humour. I've been waiting for this more than any game, ever and I'm deprived of it because of Sony.
I don't know a single person who wasn't going to buy this on Xbox360 due to the seperior online Co-op play.
That's fine, I'll pirate the PC version, yet another lost purchase, this one however is going on public trackers. I want them to lose a million sales.
Its cause Sony is run by a bunch of dumbasses, and well, its a timed release, the PS3/PS2 (ironic on the PS2 since its a Wii port) are released June 16th.
The rest of the games, delayed sometime later in the year. This game gets no damn breaks.
Rest assured, my French girlfriend loves her some wine cheese and ghostbusters. I'M N'AFRAID OF NO GHOSTS!

Bullcrap! It's ridiculously well known over here too (Ireland anyway). I was going to pick up a copy for my 360, alas...
Well the way you write this is as if it's never getting a Europe release FOR XBOX which is completely untrue. It is just later in the year and will be a ps3 exclusive for a short while - you may want to say that.
In the mean time lets hope it's a region free title. I played the demo at a comic convention in Australia and it was ok, but i am yet to decide if it's a good game or just nostalgia making me want it.
Ghostbusters is huge for any generation x'er...! Glad i got a ps3, but I got a massive problem with timed exclusives. especially this one - exclusive to a console generally means it's been written for the console, takes advantage of the consoles hardware etc. Timed exclusives' are just rubbish, we'll still be getting a shitty xbox port like normal, we just get it first. whoopdy-doo. Typical marketing crap.

That's pretty interesting news, because I happen to know from first-hand experience that there exists at least a european version for Wii...

Me: Microsoft 90% of the time, that's who. Kudos to Sony for beating M$ at their own game for once. And it IS only a timed release, not a permanent exclusive. So calm your nerd rage, all good things come to those who wait (as some 360 owners told me in the past)...

I still think you and anyone who thinks this way is an idiot, despite it being a timed exclusive, this will hurt sales in that region.
This game has been delayed enough thanks to Activision's antics, now Sony has to **** it up for the PAL region moreso just to push their PS3's there, and IMO, its not going to work.
Phenonix0879 has a point though, regardless of anyone labelling him an idiot (real mature, btw). M$ got Lost & Damned as well as Sonata, Bioshock, Vesperia etc exclusively for a loooong time. Where was the waaambulance then?
I always thought that making games exclusive is bad, but I accepted that there are some game developers that are close with either M$ or Sony. So it the games where never available for the other platform anyway, but this time the game is READY for play but you just cannot buy it over here.
And also don't forget all the good old PC gamers...they shouldnt become victims of XBOX vs. PS exlusive fights. Some goes for Wii....
