Rumor: Pokemon Gold And Silver Remakes On The Way

During the most recent episode of Japan's Pokemon Sunday, the hosts teased a major announcement for next week's show by dangling two gold and silver colored party balls from the ceiling. Obviously fans put on their thinking caps and deduced that this means Nintendo is releasing remakes of the 2nd generation Pokemon games, Pokemon Gold and Silver. Much like the GBA's Fire Red and Leaf Green, the remakes would be updated versions of the original Game Boy games with features from the most recent titles in the series, but primarily serve as a way to allow Nintendo DS players to catch some of the relatively elusive pokemon from that generation.
A remake sounds more interesting to me than another Pokemon Ranger or Mystery Dungeon, especially since I doubt an entirely new generation game will be out anytime soon. The episode with the reveal will air May 10th, so unless something more official leaks out before then we'll just have to wait.

I personally am betting that this isn't a GS remake announcement myself. Unlike FR/LG there really isn't a point this time since all the pokemon are accessible...
I bet it will be a remake, Nintendo has been hinting at it for awhile. With the DSi's lack of a GBA slot this makes it harder for newer gamers to get GS pokemon as most can only be gotten from FR/LG. Now if this is a true 100% remake we should also see Kanto in the game covering it's pokemon. Plus it wouldn't surprise me if they add some sort of islands to the game that will cover R/S pokemon. I bet they will also add R/S legends as event pokemon. This will cancel out the need of the GBA games all together.
Agree with BlueHazard, with the release of the DSi, I'm sure the franchise feels pressure to faze out the GBA titles since there's no GBA slot anymore.
Personally if it IS a remake I will be excited because nothing yet has surpassed the 2nd generation in perfection. And because I want a tododile and don't want to complete the Hoenn pokedex in Emerald to have a chance to get one or use a cheating device to get one.
If it really is going to be a remake, then I think you guys are hoping for a bit to much in my opinion. I feel like each time there's a game put out, we find that the creators have been lazy and only done the bare minimum to make the game slightly more appealing that the last release, and never much more than that.
....That said, I'm still a sucker for the damn addictive games and will probably buy the remakes anyways. (Oh, but believe me, I will be grumbling under my breath the whole time!)
meh. i wasnt really a fan of g/s except the night/day aspect. though it was cool going back via kanto in the end...
Please let it be a 3d Pokemon finally. FF:CC type graphics will do.
