Video: My Life As A Dark Lord
Wow, after watching this video that is all I can say, wow. It's the Japanese trailer for an upcoming WiiWare title called Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Dark Lord. Now before you go dismissing it as another game in the Crystal Chronicles series, it is anything but that. It actually resembles a castle defender game more closely than anything else.
You play the character of little Miss, the Dark Lord's daughter who is trying to show her worth to her father by carefully lining her castle with monsters and traps that will obliterate all the do-gooders that want to storm the castle. Apparently dressing as half a pink princess and half an emo queen is just one of the many things that makes you truly evil (or maybe just a little misguided). The trailer makes the game look quirky and fun and there seems to be a plethora of Tonberries in the game as your minions. It's nice to see that Square Enix is branching out a bit, even if half of the time the have to stick the Crystal Chronicles label on it when they do.

Reminds me of Dungeon Keeper.

I WANT IT!
I loved FFCC: My Life as a King, and this looks even cooler! I love her beautiful badass design; it beats the crap out of that cute blonde little loli-shota King :D
By the way, from the katakana in that trailer, it looks like the name of the evil princess is Mira, not Miss... unless they changed it for the English version?
Also, towards the end of the trailer, one of the people fighting in the tower was most likely Chime, the awesome assistant of King Leo from My Life as a King! Awesome!
Just want to point out that her tower is actually visible in My Life As King... Near the east gate, you can see off in the distance a tower that stretches further into the sky than the camera allows you to look up.
Also, Naruhodo, good eye, I totally missed Chime! This must be set immediately after My Life As King... Most FFCC games are like hundreds of years apart.
Wow indeed. I was just thinking the other day "I wonder why nobody has made a sim-tower style game in over a decade..." And then square demonstrates they've been doing this all along. It's like sim-tower meets reverse D&D (Which is very fun if you've ever played it- Keeping adventurers out of your tower/dungeon/castle and hoarding your treasure). I wasn't interested in "my life as a king" but this title's got my attention.
I won't be playing this, since I don't have Wii, but I am glad S-E finally produced a game that's on the baddie's side. Besides Disgaea, there's not a lot of those around,...
Although I have a bad feeling that the scenario will be botched up by the end, where the little miss Dark Lord realizes the wrongness of her ways. Let's hope it doesn't end up like that, though. :P
