E3 2009: Hands-On: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up

While visiting the Ubisoft booth, I had a chance to get some playtime with the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up, due out in the fall of 2009. The first Turtles game not tied into a movie, TV series or cartoon of any kind, Smash-Up actually goes back to the Turtles' comic book roots with a single player storyline written by the co-creator of the Heroes in a Half Shell, Peter Laird. Basically, Smash-Up plays like Smash Bros. Brawl. Four players pick one of the series' characters, select a stage, and then beat the snot out of each other moving from one arena to another either locally or online. It's okay, though &151; it's not a rip-off of Brawl. In fact, Smash-Up is being developed for the Wii by Game Arts, who was responsible for Smash Bros. Brawl. So if you like TMNT, and you like Brawl, you're in luck! I got the crap beat out of me, but it was still fun trying to survive the chaos. And just because I like you guys so much, I'll even include some more screenshots!

I was hoping for vintage April from the 80's cartoon, not her current version. Oh well, at least she is in the game.
