WANT. This looks freaking amazing! Hopefully it won't be as difficult as Team Ninja's other franchises.
Samus gets violent! Nice. Cool too see Nintendo letting her grow like that. Hopefully she won't be violent just for the sake of it though.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. Metroid is hands down one of my favorite franchises, so I'm a little worried that this will be a bit too action focused and not enough exploration, which is what makes Metroid so good. Although without Itagaki, maybe Team Ninja can make something that's a little more of a thinking game, and with a lot less emphasis on overdeveloped chesticles.
Hmmm... I don't know about this, this looks like Team ninja jap popped the f* out of the prime series. It's cool to see the fusion suit back again but the best part of playing as Samus I think is the fact that you never get bothered with ridiculous storylines involving character development. She's a bounty hunter I don't need to know how she feels and she certainly doesn't need a love interest or some bs I'm worried but than again maybe Team Ninja can pull this game off.
This is what I posted on another board about this:
"Ugh...That new metroid looked incredibly stupid. First off, why isn't Retro Studio's doing it? Second off, Why does it look like some cheap Ninja Gaiden Black wannabe?
Seriously. That looked like all flash, no substance. The kind of game that teenagers who only care about image would like.
Well another game series is dead to me."
Henchmen21,
I might be inclined to agree, except that I said the EXACT same thing back in 2002 when I saw that Metroid was going the FPS route.
I was pleasantly eating my words when I actually got to the play game, and since then I have learned to give Nintendo a chance, even when I have my serious doubts.
In the case of Metroid: Other M, I will make no exception. I reserve judgment until the game is in my hands. Until then I can only be optimistically silent.
This looks ridiculously pimped out and, I'll admit, pretty awesome. Though the charm of the Metroid series is definitely it's loneliness and immersion (with a healthy dab of mental puzzles), I'm not going to go pulling any "Ruined FOREVER" levers until it proves to me its somehow reprehensible just for existing. And then, I'd get over it and wait until the next Metroid game a touch more to my tastes.
Until that time, I'll allow myself to be excited.
After watching the trailer I'm totally confused...and happy!
I mean, when I saw 'Metroid Prime' screens the first time I swore I wouldn't buy that lame ass Halo-wannabe gameplay that would forever ruin Metroid. And when I finally did get the game, I was beyond impressed...I was blown away!
So, while I'm confused upon watching the trailer...is it side scrolling...first-person...or third-person? I still am glad to see it being taken in a new direction instead of just the same old business. I will be very interested to see how the controls work on this one.
I just want to know what this "other M" is. Mother Brain?
Hmm. On one hand, I love the Metroid games. it's among my favorites. On the other, I've yet to enjoy a single Team Ninja game because they're too damn hard to be any fun (brutal difficulty for the sake of brutal difficulty is NOT a good game design choice, sorry).
So, this will certainly be a "rent first" game for me. We'll see...
