Gallery: Zombie Apocalypse
This game wasn't even on my radar, but after looking at these screenshots from Konami's upcoming Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network title Zombie Apocalypse, I think it looks like it could be a ton of fun. Pick a character, arm yourself with 11 weapons like assault rifles, flame throwers and a C4-filled teddy bear to obliterate zombies in an attempt to survive 55 days of battles across seven environments. You can do this solo or with up to three of your friends in local or online multiplayer. Once your mission is complete, and the epidemic is over, you can re-live the apocalypse with seven additional challenging game modes unlocked by beating the game.
Thing is, you'd think that a zombie onslaught would be the perfect arcade game, because they're pretty much unstoppable. Which is what arcade games are supposed to be. They're supposed to be about surviving as long as you can against waves after wave of attackers until you're overwhelmed. They're not supposed to have endings. Although to be fair, with my reflexes, it would be a miracle if I ever saw the ending of this game! Zombie Apocalypse will be out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in the second quarter of 2009.

This is such an overhead 3/4 view ripoff of 'Left 4 Dead' - even to the four characters, who resemble the L4D crew remarkably closely. Aging security guard instead of old war vet. Dark-haired girl instead of dark-haired girl. Young, black office worker in a white shirt with a half-loosened tie. Grotty loner man from the social fringes. It's Zoe, Bill, Lewis and Francis stolen exactly.
I like Zombie games, but dang... be original people. Yeesh.
I'd like a truly worthwhile remake of the original 'Zombies Ate My Neighbors' by Lucasarts, wouldn't you?
Could they at least make the four characters original? I love Konami but this is just embarrassing.
Looks more like a rip off of the Hunter series actually far as in game play.....and to actually Hunter utilized the 4 person zombie, demons slaughter house feel long ago and in my opinion the best.
