Video: 5th Annual Proudmoore Pride March 2009
It's Pride Month here in the good ol' USA and Gay Pride marches are happening all over the country. But the celebrations aren't restricted to the real world, they happen in virtual worlds too! This year, World of Warfcraft's Proudmoore Server was the home to a huge Pride Celebration. It was the 5th year for the big party put on by The Spreading Taint (H) & The Stonewall Family (A) and was attended by Go Girl! (Escorted by Dykes on Bikes), Proposition Taint, The Real Houseboys of Silvermoon City, Willy Wankers and The Chocolate (Cake) Factory, Bears in the Woods, Spider Pride, Gordok Ogre Float, Battlebots, Priests with Pom Poms, The Bunny Float, Proudmoore Divas and Seksi Sehkurridy complements of War Taint.
There were a variety of activities including Pre-Parade Festivities, March, Meetup with Alliance, Nude Duel Championship final round, March to Ratchet, Dance Boat Party to Booty Bay, Azeroth's Next Top Model Competition, Crafting Faire and Post-Parade Dance Party in the Bay.
It's great to see events like this happening in WOW and City of Heroes. I'm only sorry that we didn't know of this one beforehand so we could have announced it here. So heads up to all you Warcrafters: Let us know about this stuff! We love to support you and love to show off the cool events you do such as this one!
[Thanks, Frank]

Sounds cool, but yeah, wish they'd done a bit more to publicise themselves. Maybe next year, with a bit of lead time so people from other servers can put together a decent alt to attend with. Tuxedo Shirts aren't cheap!
Well, we were pimping this thing like crazy for weeks... we even had an ad on Manhunt :P.
It was great fun though. We need to have like a sign up list so that we can email people about it next year... maybe I'll work on that tonight.
Go La Familia de Stonewall!!!
Hrrm. I sent press releases about this prior to the event to both Fruit Brute and tiny dancer, so we TRIED to let you guys know! :)
I also sent out releases to several dozen other contacts - gamer media, tech media, and LGBT media, mostly - and we got covered by The Advocate, Joe. My. God., Queers United, Dallas Voice, Manhunt Daily, GayWired, Dallas Voice, GLAAD Blog, WoW.com (formerly WoWInsider), Project Lore, and a handful of smaller outlets. We posted about it on a variety of online forums as well. We DID let people know.
Anyway, if you missed it, Pride's mid-June every year, so check taint.rtgc.org around the beginning of June next month if you've somehow managed to miss out on our publicity efforts. :)
Er, around the beginning of June next YEAR, that is. :)
Natividad, the same thing happened a year or so ago back when I was in a GLBT Supergroup in City of Heroes. I sent info about our event way ahead of time, and nobody showed up. At least your event eventually got a mention. The staff I talked with here ignored our event altogether.
