Video: Left 4 Dead 2 Debut Teaser
So a friend sent me a message after Left 4 Dead 2 was announced during the Microsoft Press Conference saying he was a little pissed off. I saw his point: I think most people assumed that there would be some additional content for the first game before we saw a sequel. Rushing something out for a buck just isn't a very Valve thing to do. At the same time, if the company is going to take five years to make each Half Life episode and give away a bunch of Team Fortress 2 content for free, they need a cash cow, and it's likely their friends at EA and Microsoft didn't mind pushing them in this direction.
Anyway, it's still Left 4 Dead, it will be awesome, even if they don't make a ton of improvements to the engine. This time we've got four new survivors traversing the south, so expect at least one Deliverance joke. Please please please let them make a few extra campaigns (not just one) so the game lasts a little longer, and I wouldn't be sad if they offered the original cast as DLC, even if it doesn't make sense to the plot. I need to know what else Francis hates! One change that the trailer reveals is the addition of specific melee weapons. I call the dude with the frying pan.
Left 4 Dead 2 will be out this November 17 for PC and XBox 360.

info from wikipedia:
"The game will be set in the Southern United States, starting in Savannah, Georgia and ending up in New Orleans, Louisiana. Four new survivors will be introduced, with their backstory provided in a similar way to the original through dialogue in the game. The survivors include Coach, a high-school football coach, Rochelle, a reporter for a local cable company, Ellis, a boy mechanic, and Nick, a gambler and conman.
The game will feature five new episodes. In addition to the infected from the previous game, there will be new classes; one is the Charger, a being that is able to temporarily stun the survivors by body-charging them. Existing types will have some modifications, including zombies that are immune to fire, and the Wandering Witch that roams the level until disturbed by the players.
New melee weapons will be introduced, including a frying pan, an axe, baseball bat, and chainsaw, as well as updates to the existing weapons. The AI Director has been improved to encourage more participation by players, forcing players through difficult gauntlets to reach an extraction point, and the ability to alter elements of the level. The AI Director will also be improved to reward players for taking longer or more difficult paths through each episode by providing more useful equipment, such as incendiary ammo, along these riskier paths."
O god, I can barely contain myself! ^_^
Frying pan!!!! Grrrrrrppppphhhlllll.... [/homer simpson]
Sounds awesome to me! :D I really like the idea of melee weapons!
Though I will probably wait until the price is $30; like I did for the first one.
