Video: The Often Overlooked XBLA Awesomeness
Amid all of the revealings and announcements of higher profile games like Metal Gear Solid Rising, Left 4 Dead 2, and of course, Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn a certain selection of games caught my eye that seem to be going mostly unnoticed. The above trailer is for a selection of Xbox Live Arcade games, almost all of which seem to be must-haves.
The most exciting, to me at least, is the surprise announcement of Shadow Complex, a side-scrolling action/adventure from the Metroidvania school of game design and developed by the good guys over at Epic. Of course there's also Splosion Man, TMNT Turtles in Time Re-Shelled, and The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition to drool over, with Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Battlefield 1943 as the cherries on top. And what's more, while most of the big name retail games won't start hitting until September, the games in this trailer are supposed to be hitting the online marketplace over the summer.

The usual statement for all Orson Scott Card related media applies: I really wish I could buy Shadow Complex without supporting this homophobe. As much as it pains me to pass up a 2.5D adventure game, I'll have to pass, especially given the hard right-wing bent of Empire (the book Shadow Complex is at least loosely based on).
Oh dear, I apologize then. I had no idea that the Shadow Complex game had any connection to Orson Scott Card. That really sucks.
i'm looking forward to Splosion Man, it's from the creators of the Maw. i am also kind of excited about turtles in time. only because it's like the 2.5d that everyone likes. i wouldn't mind seeing more old school arcade titles remade in said fashion. X-men Arcade, i'm looking at you. exactly who do i have to petition to get that bad boy on XBLA already?
