COD: Modern Warfare 2's Prestige Edition Sees What You Do In The Dark

I'm a sucker for "Special Editions." I don't know why, but every time I see one I get a little bit more interested in a game because of it. I know just how shameful this is, but occasionally you get the special edition that is totally worth the additional cash to get some nifty tidbits, be it an art book, figure, or soundtrack CD. Lo and behold what is surely the most outrageous, or absurd depending on your view, Special Edition extra we've seen yet: Night vision goggles!
Part of Activision's "Prestige Edition" of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, these branded night vision goggles make up the content of one of three magical boxes included with what is surely going to be one expensive collector's editions. Also included in the Prestige Edition is the content that can be found in the Hardened Edition (try saying that out loud without getting the church-giggles): small artbook, steel case, DLC code for downloading the original CoD over PSN/XBLA.
Now, I must admit that I'm not the biggest Call of Duty fan outside of the rather incredible DS versions (shameless plug, I know), but I did enjoy CoD: Modern Warefare enough to be getting excited over its upcoming sequel. As silly as it sounds, I know I'd never actually use the night vision goggles for anything outside of an occasional tinkering, but the goggles are so ridiculous that it's almost tempting.

I've always wanted Night Vision Goggles!
... but I'm not sure why ...
When I was in the military, we were always told that NVG's are very expensive. I guess either their price has come down or these aren't exactly military quality.
Besides I'd rather have Sam Fisher's goggles.
And real goggles never make that sweet bweeeeeep sound when put on :(.
I'm with Underapurplesky in that I've always wanted some night visiony goggles of my own. Although I know exactly why: Jurassic Park. The kid got to play with night vision goggles in that movie, and ever since then I've wanted a pair.
Now to determine if they're actually worth it. The "Hardened Edition" will be $70 and the Prestige will be $150. Take $15 off the price of the Prestige edition for the CoD1 code and those goggles cost about $65. I've gotta say, that's mighty tempting.
No PC Version? That is CRAP!
Well I have seen cheap night vision scopes for under $50. Obviously not military grade by any extent of the words.
Unless by "working" they mean it has a green lens to make it look like night vision.
I am looking forward to finding out.
