Rumor: Tomb Raider Going Open World, Spooky

After the last few games promised a "return to her roots," are the creators of Tomb Raider going in a new direction for the next game in the series? A tipster to FourPlayerCoop sent in screens from what looks like a survey about the next game in the Tomb Raider series that includes a few interesting details.
When a sudden storm destroys her research vessel, a young and inexperienced Lara Croft finds herself stranded on a mysterious and remote island hidden off the shores of Japan. Despite several signs of various inhabitants the island is oddly deserted, and an uneasy feeling settles as strange sounds emerge from the shadows. With only her determination, inner strength, and resourcefulness to help her, Lara must overcome the challenges of a harsh and unforgiving journey that will take her across a vast island wilderness and deep into the claustrophobic and menacing underground tombs from the island's past. As she struggles to prevail through brutal combat encounters and treacherous exploration, Lara will be pushed to her limits and forced to adapt to her situation in order to survive and escape from the lethal predators that stalk her every move.
I'll be happy as long as she isn't shooting tigers in the face. The few enemies shown have a definite J-Horror influence, and the game promises both "Survival action" and "creative survival." So basically, you're saying we want her to survive? Got it.
Perhaps most interestingly, the game features "one cohesive world," "an open playground alive with creatures, weather, and natural events." We'll have to see if something like that will work for Tomb Raider, but I'll admit that hearing that gave me flashbacks to last summer's Alone in the Dark. Hopefully Crystal Dynamics, and new Eidos owners Square Enix, can make something a little more well received.
We'll just have to wait and see if any of the information from the survey actually pans out. Until then, head over to the original post and check out the rest of the details and see if it's even something you think you'd want.
Tomb Raider Reboot - The First Details? [Four Player Coop]

Thing is... I wasn't sure it needed a reboot. Just refinement :-( I'm not sure I like change! lol
Sounds like the producers wandering: "What if we put Lara in the LOST island?..."
Clark - I was thinking the same thing! Of coruse, I'm not opposed to that. I'll lap up anything they give me for Lara. I don't mind a reboot, as long as they don't do it AoD style and just shipwreck the series...no metaphor intended.
Lara on LOST island? SCORE! lol I'd love to see that. Its full of mythology and adventure.
Really like it - Lara became too vanilla.
The whole idea of a reboot is really lame. I really enjoyed the new Lara and the idea of an open world just bothers me a little I love the various international locations Lara visits. I'm not sure I'm down for this but than who gives a crap about my opinion lol. Either way i'm saying this idea is lame!
I've never played a Lara Croft game before, but for some reason the phrase "shooting tigers in the face" really makes me want to.
