Sony & Hudson Create Virtual Console Competitor
![]()
If Sony and Hudson's recently-announced PC Engine Archives service for PS3 and PSP takes off, the Wii will finally have some competition in the Virtual Console sector.
The service has only just launched in Japan and currently has only four titles: New Adventure Island, Devil's Crush, Bomberman '94 and Sengoku Mahjongg. Pricing is VC-competitive, at ¥600, or $6 per game.
Also featured is the ability to save games at any time using five save slots - and pick up again right where you left off. You'll also be able to swap saves between your PS3 and PSP. It sounds like a souped-up emulator, so these four starting titles could be the forerunners of another massive ROM dump, a-la VC.
Still, don't expect PC Engine Archives to come to North America or Europe anytime soon - if at all - although TurboGrafx fans may be chomping at the bit for another pipeline of 16-bit crack.
