Video: DJ Star Trailer
I have no actual musical talent myself, which is why I love my music games. I can't sing that well, but Lips and Karaoke Revolution are a blast. Only took guitar lessons for a few months as a kid, but that doesn't stop me from rocking out in Guitar Hero... or better yet, in Rock Band on the drums! Portable music rhythm games can be a dicey affair, though. When you're not playing an actual instrument (even if it is plastic), it loses some of the appeal. However, DJ Scratch for the Nintendo DS makes it look like working that turntable with your stylus will feel just right! I love the idea of seeing the dance floor empty out as you suck at DJ-ing, and signing autographs afterwards? Hilarious. But what I really appreciate is the addition of the music creator where you can make your own tracks to save to an SD card and share wirelessly with friends. I wouldn't buy a music creator game on its own, but as an addition to a DJ game where I'd already be having a blast? Perfect. Oh, and there's also one other benefit to a portable music game: When you're screwing up, the headphones make sure that nobody but you notices!

Having played a pre-release build, I can say a couple of things. If you're into the tracklist, you'll really be into it. The dancing girls become increasingly less-clothed the better you do. And the song creator is only good if you want to make 90's-sounding euro-techno (although I was able to get a bit of a daft punk thing going on, that was about it).
