Cheap Date: Direct2Drive's Best of Indies

It might be a little early to start arranging your weekend gaming fling(s), but this one is too good to pass up. Direct2Drive is offering up one of the best cheap dates around with its "Best of Indie Bundle." For the low, low price of just $17.75 you'll get some automated destruction, political intrigue, emo puzzles, punk fantasies, and gears of grandeur.
First up in the bundle is one of my favorite tower defense games, Defense Grid: The Awakening. While it might look vary straightforward, the game's writing packs some sharp wit. Those looking for a different type of sim can play Democracy 2. Take control of a country as an elected leader and cause all types of trouble before going back to your base for reelection. The Path takes a unique look at one of the most morbidly macabre fairy tales every created, Little Red Ridinghood, and sets players on an atmospheric exploration of a twisted fantasy. It's no Little Red Ridinghood's Zombie BBQ, but it's just as fun! After that, you can dip into the punk infused landscapes of Zeno Clash. This visually striking game has players surviving a beautiful and dangerous forbidden wasteland. And last but not least is Cogs, a fast and furious collection of gear and pipe based puzzles. By moving mechanical parts into place, players construct rockets, hot air balloons, and a myriad of other devices.
That's five games in all for less than $20. Normally each of these games goes for about ten bucks each or more, so you know you're getting a great deal here. Those interested in taking Direct2Drive up on their offer need to head on over there before August 9th.

Zeno Clash and Cogs are worth the price of admission on their own. The Path is also a very interesting game that is definitely worth experiencing.
Haven't tried Defense Grid or Democracy 2, but more games is never a bad thing. And you're already getting more than your money's worth.
