Video: Be Inside Maroon 5's Adam Levine
I'll come out and admit it, I like Maroon 5, so when I saw news that the lead singer for the band, Adam Levine, was going to be available in Activision's upcoming Band Hero game, a sequel to the Guitar Hero franchise, well, I was tickled pink (or pinker).
The video above shows some behind-the-scenes footage of what it took to create Adam in the game as well as Adam's own thoughts about being asked to be in the game. Apparently the motion capture process involved Adam looking like a dorky superhero and being surrounded by silver balls, which leads me to wonder if someone has been reading my journal entries.
As far as the interview goes, some of Adam's comments on the present situation of the recording industry, and how games like Rock Band and Band Hero are changing the way in which music gets out there were actually interesting to hear. With MP3s and downloadable music becoming more and more common, videogames are becoming bigger vehicles for bands trying to gain a foothold in the industry. Plus, with the tools currently available in Guitar/Band Hero, and the ones soon to be released for Rock Band, it looks like music creation may also be taking on a new form.
Overall, with characters like Adam Levine and Taylor Swift being available in Band Hero, I'm sure a lot of people will be ready to pickup this game when it releases on just about every platform (Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, DS) in November.

Between RockBand2, RockBandLEGO, and TheBeetlesRockBand, I don't think I will need to buy another American guitar/drum game for a long time but if I had to pick up a GuitarHero game this would be the one. I like that the soundtrack seems much more diverse than the standard games in the series.
Its nice to see that more artists are welcoming video games as a legitimate extension of their music. Too many artists have criticized music games so hopefully games like this and theBeetlesRockBand help change their minds.
"Marron 5"? Ironically, "marron" is French for "brown".
My roommate will be asking for Beatles Rock Band, and I think I'll go for maybe Lego Rock Band.
Or maybe I wont get that and I will just end up getting that Gamefly account I've been wanting and I'll rent them all. I don't need to keep a lot of games after I play them, and with Rock Band 2 giving me replayability, I won't need another one to keep.
