Rockstar Rocks The iPhone And iPod Touch

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars was beloved by critics, but lower-than-expected sales seemed to inspire Rockstar Games to port it from the Nintendo DS over to Sony's PSP. And now, they're announcing that this fall, the game is also heading over to iPhone and iPod Touch!
"Chinatown Wars is a perfect match for the iPhone and iPod touch," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "We are very excited to bring this incredibly ambitious version of Liberty City, with this level of detail and immersive gameplay on Apple's new gaming platforms."
Top-down perspective action games seem to work really well on the iPhone/iPod Touch, although I would assume the controls will need to be tweaked yet again. The PSP doesn't have a touch screen, so everything has to be shifted to the buttons alone, and the iPhone/iPod Touch doesn't have any buttons, so they'll need to shift everything again. Still, it could be awesome.
Oh, but that's not all. They've also announced that Beaterator is also coming out at the same unspecified "fall" date. Here, I can see where porting the PSP title to a touch-screen platform would really help with the moving and adjusting of musical tracks. And using the iPhone would mean that you could upload and share your musical creations easier than finding WiFi connections with the PSP.
It's cool to see more legitimate, full-fledged games appearing in the App Store, and it's a sign that Apple's gadgets are being seriously considered as portable gaming platforms.
