Rumorama: FF XIV Scans Of Races And Jobs

We all know that Final Fantasy XIV will be the new MMO coming out from Square Enix (supposedly in 2010) and seems to be based off the popular Final Fantasy XI. Well it looks like someone got a hold of some magazine scans a bit early that show off a some of the races that will be included in the game, as well as some information on the new job classes available.
First off, the images show that all of the races from XI will be in this game too, but apparently with different names: Hume will be Hyuran, Tarutaru are now Lalafell, Galka known as Roegadyn, Elvaan as Elzen, and Mithra get the name Micott. So you will be able to play your favorite race it seems, which is always a plus. No info yet on any new races, though I'm sure it's still early in the development process to rule out that there won't be any.
As far as jobs go the scans seem to have some info about there being four job archetypes: fighter, sorcerer, gatherer, and crafter. Apparently each archetype had two jobs revealed in the magazine. The fighter had the swordsman and archer jobs under it. The sorcerer jobs were enchanter and warlock. The crafter group had blacksmith and cook; whereas, the gatherer can be a gardener or fisherman. From the grouping, it seems as though crafting is going to play an important role in gameplay, which should be interesting and seems reminiscent of EQ2.
Another item revealed from the magazine scans is that there will apparently be more character customization allowed for you characters. This always seems to be a promise with new MMOs, so we'll have to wait and see just how much customization they really give to the user when creating their new characters.
Overall, the new info sounds great for die hard fans of the Final Fantasy MMO races, while also having some new tidbits as to what they are changing when it comes to jobs and classes. Hopefully more info will be coming soon. Until then enjoy the scans in the gallery after the jump.

I loved my taru before, but wow the Lalafell look soooo awesome!
The Lalafell are some colored jumpers away from being Teletubbies. Taru's were cute, these are just a little creepy...
Screw these FFXI races. I want to be able to play a Bangaa. :(
I was actually hoping an Ivalice based MMO from S-E
I'm with Nexus on playing as a Bangaa. Generally, I find most races boring when given an option because they all just seem like humans in different sizes or with different amounts of hair. I'd really love there to be more non-human playable races in games, and Bangaa's are a good start. Or maybe even whatever race Quina was in FFIX. Yes, I am the one person that actually liked Quina.
Wait.. didn't the last FF-MMO kind of suck? I mean it was bordering on being a Korean game. From what I experienced I only had a couple of preset faces to choose from and even fewer hairstyles, heck I didn't even get to choose facial hair for most of the men. This game unless they have improved vastly since their last semi-flop is a no go for me.
FFXI was still one of the top 10 most successful MMO's last year (after 6 or 7 years) based on # of subscriptions. It may not be for everyone, but I doubt it could be called a "semi-flop."
Falafel anyone?
Seriously, guys over at SE are getting desperate for some good new names. Seems they've used up all the (somewhat) sensible ones.... Whenever they release something new if features names here and there that are either plain silly (esp. if based on western names and mythos) or tonguetwistingly hard to pronnounce.
That aside, I really like the new look for Galkas. So glad they've cut their tails off :> Sorry, but the tail was just obstructing my view :P Also they are more proportionally built now it seems.
The Falafels look helluva creepy. I mean, cute(ish) but creepy. Like a clown doll would, before it cut your guts out. Someone mentioned Teletubbies. I'd have to aggree, and giving their race a name that starts with LALA.... too much of a coincidence @_@ Bring back the Tarus >:(
I can't really see the Elvaan in the pics, except for the silhouettes but, I just hope they look less deformed now. And I mean no giraffe necks and snake limbs -_-
Wish there were more non-human looking races though. Where's the Nu Mou, Cleyra, Bangaa or Yuke? :( I know Moombas are prolly a long shot, as they're somewhere along the line with Moogles, but it'd be quite orgasmic :P And of course the Qu race. Want my own Qu Chef :D
Really looking forward to more news on FF XIV
