Samus Aran Has Something To Say About Gay Marriage
Everyone seems to remember where they were and what they were doing when significant events took place, like Michael Jackson's death, the Kennedy assassination or Hurricane Katrina. For gamers, one such significant event occurred when Metroid's Samus Aran removed her helmet and revealed to teenage boyes everywhere that they were actually playing as a girl. Needless to say, young minds were blown.
According to a humorous yet pointed article on McSweeney's, Samus (actually writer Marco Kayne) reveals that not only is she a woman, but a lesbian to boot. And she has quite a few things to say about the gay marriage issue. It's a very well written article incorporating loads of Metroid references to make its point. Definitley a terrific read for gay gamers or an email forward to your non gay gaming friends. I'll leave you with a quote:

In game, I'd always see her as asexual. Granted she is very feminine when in the zero suit, and Snake did lust for her in Brawl, but have never seen her act on emotions relating to attraction in game before.
Is this a "She's gay because she's a tough woman" kind of thing? Not saying he makes excellent points (especially about DADT, being someone who plans on joining the Navy when they've repealed it), but I can't help but wonder if that's his reason.
