Tatsunoko Vs Heartbreak: Phoenix Wright This Close To Making The Roster

Speaking with NGamer Magazine, producer Ryota Niitsuma from the Wii mascot fighter Tatsunoko Vs Capcom revealed that the developers originally had plans to add characters from the company's legal blockbuster to the game's line-up.
R&D actually really wanted to include these characters, especially Phoenix Wright and Franziska von Karma because she's got a whip which would be easy to implement. But because Phoenix Wright only has one move, 'Objection!', we struggled. We designed a move for him: when he says objection, the actual writing attacks the opponent. However, 'objection' in Japanese is 'igiari' -- it's four characters, whereas 'objection' becomes ten. When we localise, the balance of the game gets destroyed because the move becomes bigger. There'd be no way of avoiding it! We had to remove him for these reasons. In the future, it is one of our aims to get him in.
Thanks a lot, phonics! It's interesting that apparently a localization of the game was planned from the beginning, as they sure made us wait a while before announcing it. Hopefully they'll manage to get one or two of the series' characters into the next Vs. Capcom title, whatever it may be. I kind of hope they drop the Franziska idea though; I'm sure most of you would much rather see Gumshoe or Miles Edgeworth up there, even if they're not as well suited to the fighting arena. Well actually, with his famous tea set, I think Edgeworth would probably do just fine.
