Video: Mario AI Kicks My Butt
Who doesn't like to start off the morning with a good ole video? I sure do. What you are looking at is one of the entries in an upcoming competition. The goal is to create a realtime AI that tries to move Mario safely through as many levels as quickly as possible without dying. The entire system is built off a modified version of Infinite Mario.
While the AI is not perfect, sometimes he will slip in holes and hits spikeys. Even with the occasional death this thing is still a far better player than I am.

Oh my god, that had me so tense every time it was a close call. I kept forgetting it was an AI not a real person playing.
Looks like he has used a genetic algorithm with a fitness towards staying alive and moving forwards. Give that guy a job!
